My daughter chased a chicken today…

It’s true! Yosie chased a chicken across our yard today.

Seems harmless and a bit uneventful until you stop and really think about it.

We’ve had chickens roaming our yard for years now.

We’ve had Yosie roaming our yard for years now.

We’ve shown Yosie the chickens roaming the yard for years now.

We’ve walked Yosie right up to the chicken coop. Right through all the chicken stench and poop.

We’ve plunged her chubby little fingers into the nesting boxes and helped her “collect” eggs.

We’ve pointed, we’ve oohed, we’ve ahhed about the chickens.

We’ve made exaggerated chicken noises.

And… she’s been unamused, uninterested, and often times very unaware of the chickens despite our attempts.

Until today.

Without any promoting Yosie NOTICED the chicken, she GIGGLED as she watch the funny critter strut around and she began to “CHASE” it occasionally giggling to herself.

The chase lasted the length of our field. One determined little girl following one frightened hen.

We were cheering her on. Yosie was aware of her surroundings, interested in what she saw and able to respond appropriately!

She’s overcome so many obstacles the last few months and we’re delighting in watching her grow and develop.

I don’t know that the chicken feels the same warm fuzzy thoughts.

That particular hen did escape untouched, however, I think this may just be the beginning!

  1. How can your heart not explode and your heart feel like it is experiencing for the first time all the things our Yosie is experiencing with each new adventure. God is healing our little girl. We have been so blessed to have such wonderful doctors and people placed in her life to help her.
I have said it before and I will continue to say it “Our Yosie was to be here in Arnoldtown with her amazing parents and sibling and a family that would move heaven and earth for her. We love you Yosie girl!
